Standing in 300 acres of prime Cork limestone grassland, Ballincurrig House Stud provides a complete service for the purchase, breeding, livery and sales of Thoroughbred horses.

The stud is run by Michael Moore and a small team of dedicated staff headed by Nuala Healy. Michael is responsible for the management of the stud, liaising with clients and for the Sales operation; whilst both provide day-to-day care of stock. Michael’s late sister Josie originally helped establish the stud and the disciplines that she originated continue to generate top prices for clients at leading Flat and National Hunt Sales to this day.

Michael’s brother-in-law Richard Rohan is another key member of the Sales team, and is also an expert purchaser of young stock in his own right, having been responsible for buying the Cheltenham Gold Cup winners Looks Like Trouble and War of Attrition as foals. The final link in the Ballincurrig chain to the racecourse is Michael’s cousin Denis Leahy, located about an hour away in West Cork, who is an expert at breaking and pre-training young horses and comes highly recommended by many Ballincurrig clients.

The prime focus of Ballincurrig House Stud is to help clients breed and raise the best horses possible, when selling them to realise the best prices they can and when racing them to know that they have enjoyed the best possible start in life. This website tries to explain how we do this. It will also tell of the racecourse exploits of some of the best horses we have sold.

However, informative though the Internet is, it can only take you so far in talking about the wonderful creature that is the Thoroughbred racehorse; so if you are interested in using our services please contact Michael Moore for a chat or to arrange to visit us. You will be made welcome.
